3 Basic Tips to Ensure data safety

Do you think disaster won’t near your computer? Do you feel your data is totally secure?

Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow.  It is advised not to procrastinate as far backing up your computer is involved!  I have learned my lesson after losing precious data from multiple hard drive crashes!

Statistics have shown that 1 in every 4 computer user suffers a critical data loss every year.  Several Laptops are stolen and hard drives crash always; it’s almost a fact of life.  If you want to   see a grown man cry, pray and wait for his computer to crash!

Many excuses are obtainable from several computer users about why their machines aren’t being backed up. Well, probably they might sound good, but they really don’t hold up especially when they lose their data.

I had to conduct a small survey involving computer users to discover the most popular excuses.  These top three justifications came up. They are shown below, along with my contradictions.

1.  I do not know how.

The opportunity to learn is here for free.  If you possess the basic skills on how to use a computer, you backup your files with ease.  It is as simple as burning a CD, right-clicking on folders and selecting “back this up.”

Go out and find the nearest computer whiz and kindly ask them to help you back up your data; or just Google up data backup.  Someone is always happy to lend a hand.  (After wearing the shoe of losing lots of my saved data due to hard drive crashes, I’m always happy offering a helping hand to people in backing up their data.)

2.  It is too expensive.

Data backup doesn’t cost you your arm or a leg.  Even though some services are quite costly, it is possible to have all of your data backed up for a token every month.  CD-Rs aren’t costly these days, and even one top-notch online backup service is a mere $5 per month.

It’s almost definite that we all buy insurance for our house and car, right?  Let’s think of data backup as must-do for our documents and digital photos.

3.  Data backup takes too long.

Hahahahaha, it’s quite funny isn’t it? This reason would actually be better noted as “I’m too busy!” or “I’m lazy!” but it seems reasonable that they be combined into one sentence!

If you burn all of your data to CDs, then yes, it will take a while.  But it just cannot be compared to how long it will take in trying to start over from scratch once all the data have been lost!

Just think of this, if you lose all your data without any backup right now.  What would you do?

Remember a backup service that I had earlier mentioned that costs only $5 per month?  Not only is it easily affordable, it works automatically after some minutes of being set up.  Your entire computer is backed up with a little effort of initiating it on your part!  You really need to create time for this because it is very essential.
